I was diagnosed with autoimmune hypothyroidism in January 2012, 1,5 years after we moved to the United States. I've begun to seek for possible causes and for more information about the disease. I've read numerous books to find alternative curing possibilities. As a result I've got to know the PALEO diet. At the beginning I only tried to eat gluten-free and minimize dairy intake. In July 2012 I spent 3 weeks in Hungary and I switched back to my old eating habits. I felt the difference immediately! Since August 2012 I try to be 100% paleo. I only cheat occasionally, like preparing pancakes from gluten-free mix or having goat cheese on my salad at a restaurant. It is a new life style, not only a diet and you have to be really committed to do it. It is not easy, but the positive results are obvious. This keeps me going and hoping for to keep my immune system under control.
